About Virginia Beach, Virginia

Located where the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean meet, Virginia Beach features 28 miles of boardwalk and an oceanfront with wide beaches which makes for a very attractive place to vacation, enjoy fresh seafood and visit many of the city’s historic landmarks and museums. It’s also the largest East Coast metropolitan area between Washington and Atlanta.

401 years ago the English settlers landed on this stretch of beach. “Chesapeake” comes from the Algonquin words meaning “ Great Shellfish Bay.” The word survived the presence of people from “the old country.” Now, people leave Virginia Beach to find fame and fortune. These following famous entertainers come from the area: Gary U.S. Bonds, Clarence Clemons, Mark Hamill, Wayne Newton, Keely Smith, Gene Vincent, Ernie Watts, Ruth Brown, Bebe Buell, Charlie Byrd, Scott McKenzie, Juice Newton, Pat Robertson, Bruce Hornsby, Steve Earle, Pearl Bailey, Ella Fitzgerald, and Roy and Victor Wooten. There must be something in the water to grow and nurture so much talent. Go ask Neptune on the boardwalk. Maybe he knows what does it.
