King's Grant Elementary School Reviews

King's Grant in a recent recipient of the Governor's Award for Educational Excellence. Of all regional elementary schools, only 3 in Virginia Beach (one being the gifted school) and none in Norfolk achieved this level of excellence. I have had children in the school system for 4 years, and can attest to the exemplary level of educational leadership and instruction. This is a well-balanced school and children with interests/gifts in music, the arts and social sciences will be equally served as those who are strong in math/science. Special needs children on both ends of the spectrum are important there. Your children will be challenged, encouraged, molded and not be left to flounder in this caring and positive environment. Significant parental involvement is the mainstay -- and this school doesn't just 'talk the talk'. We are so pleased that we chose not to send our child to the gifted magnet school. :)

I currently have two children in KGES. I have to say that I am extremely impressed with the way the staff and students interact with each other. I have a Kindergarten student as well as a 2nd grader and am a very happy parent. The academics are wonderful and there are so many exciting activities for the children to participate in. I am most impressed on how much they emphasize the importance of independence and responsibility. They allow the children to make their own decisions. The staff makes the children feel that they make a true difference in their own education and that is what matters to me the most.

This school is awesome! Their academic programs are the best! The children participate in music, art, sports, daily! I would recommend this school to any one moving to this area!

I am a former student of King's Grant. I am currently in the 10th grade taking advanced course. I believe it was my first years at King's Grant that made it possible. I loved King's Grant and I was saddened when I had to move. I miss it dearly. I know that King's Grant is a wonderful school with a wonderful staff. King's Grant,I know, will continue to be a wonderful school. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Sara B. Pearson

I am the parent of a special ed child at KGES. I am very glad to be involved with such a wonderful staff. Everyone works with me to make sure my child gets the most from his school hours. (believe me somtimes it is really difficult with special needs kids) The teachers and other faculty are nothing short of outstanding. I have a terrific relationship with all who come in contact with my child. The PTA is good as well, lots of participation - a very family involved school.

I am the parent of a second grade student and I feel very fortunate to have my child attend King's Grant. The administration is top notch as well as the teachers. Every adult who interacts with the students cares deeply about their welfare (from the custodial staff to the bus drivers). Parent involvement is very high at the school. Again, I am thoroughly happy that I am a King's Grant parent!

My son is in first grade at KG. His teacher is wonderful and very helpful and informative. The office staff is also very helpful whenever a question arises. The only complaint I have is that the 'lunch' lady yells at the children not realizing what they can comprehend at their age level.
